Natural Sun-Screening Compounds and DNA-Repair Enzymes: Photoprotection and Photoaging

Ultraviolet radiation (UVR) has been scientifically proven to cause skin disorders such as sunburn, cancer and the symptoms of chronic exposure. Natural sun screening compounds have recently gained tremendous attention from cosmetic cosmeceutical sectors for treating hyperpigmentation aging. A wide range natural UV-absorbing used replace or reduce number synthetic sunscreen molecules. One primary causes photoaging is DNA damage, mainly caused by UVR. Photoprotection provided traditional sunscreens purely preventative no efficacy after damage initiated. As a result, quest DNA-repair mechanisms that block, reverse, postpone pathologic processes in UV-exposed stimulated anti-photoaging research methods increase effectiveness sunscreens. This review summarizes many microalgae, lichens, plants demonstrated potential photoprotection effects against UV radiation-induced damage. Furthermore, it offers an overview current breakthroughs enzymes utilized their influence on photoaging.
